Teaching Philosophy

"Mathematics confusion is often a case-by-case basis, so I tailor my approach to the individual student. I start by asking students to identify their specific struggles; if they are unsure where to begin, I read the problem to them and ask what they believe the question is requesting. By guiding them toward the correct method rather than just providing the solution, I help them build true understanding. I believe that maintaining a supportive environment—where mistakes are okay and progress is praised—is essential for motivation".

What Makes Jacqueline Special:

  • Extensive Math Tutoring Background: Currently serves as a Lead Math Tutor at Central High School, where she plans and instructs math lessons for high schoolers. Previously spent over two years as a Senior Math Tutor at George Mason University's Math Tutoring Center, instructing undergraduate students.

  • Empathetic & Encouraging: Focuses on creating a safe learning environment where mistakes are normalized and students receive the praise they need to stay motivated. She also brings strong conflict management skills to her sessions.

  • Camp Leadership: Worked as a Summer Camp STEM Instructor, demonstrating her ability to keep younger learners engaged with interactive activities.

  • Strong Analytical & Research Skills: Beyond teaching, Jacqueline has a robust analytical background. She completed a Human Performance Research Internship at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where she analyzed raw data for real-world military heat injury studies.
