"Typically, I walk through the problem slowly and from the beginning to determine where the struggling begins. If after explaining that concept in depth they still haven't grasped it, I propose a simpler problem focused on that aspect of the concept, asking them questions to let them solve it themselves with some guidance. I also like to use drawings/diagrams to help them better visualize their thought process."
