Meet Your Expert

Makayla graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science in Information Science, a minor in Math and a minor in Recreation Management. She used her time in university to explore her interests in tech and data research, STEM, and community outreach. She values the making of meaningful connections when it comes to learning something new or challenging, so that “what we learn stays with us for a long time”. She believes that to understand a concept or a process is so much easier than merely memorizing each step, especially if you have a 100 concepts and processes yet to learn. This is why she structures her sessions around comprehensive review techniques that enforce not only information recall, but real life application of what your student is learning.

Makayla specializes in reading comprehension, research and writing, K-12 math (i.e Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus), general chemistry, and simple computer programming/coding. Makayla also graduated with the support of multiple scholarships, her highest accolade being the SMART Scholarship, a full-ride STEM scholarship under the Department of Defense; She is happy to help with college research, applications and scholarships.
